A dental examination is a comprehensive assessment of your oral health conducted by a dentist. It includes an extra oral assessment of your neck, lymph nodes, temporomandibular jaw joint and masticatory muscles. Intraorally the dentist will check your soft tissues (lips, cheeks, tongue, etc) for oral cancer screening and other oral health/systemic health indicators. They will then check the teeth and gums for decay, tooth wear, occlusal (bite) problems, periodontal disease and if desired room for cosmetic improvements, X-rays, intra-oral photographs and digital scans may be needed to aid diagnosis.
A hygiene appointment involves having your gums and teeth professionally cleaned to remove plaque, stain and calculus (tartar) above and below the gum line. It also includes oral hygiene instruction to make sure you are maintaining optimum oral health at home.
Dental x-rays are a diagnostic tool used by dentists to capture detailed images of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. They help identify hidden dental issues such as cavities, infections, bone loss, impacted teeth, and abnormalities. X-rays aid in creating an accurate treatment plan and monitoring oral health over time.
Composite fillings are tooth-coloured restorations used to treat cavities. Made of a durable resin material, they are designed to match the natural colour of the teeth for a seamless appearance. Composite fillings bond directly to the tooth structure, providing a strong and aesthetically pleasing solution to restore the integrity of the tooth.
Dental extractions involve the removal of a diseased or damaged tooth from the mouth. It may be necessary if a tooth is severely decayed, infected, impacted, or causing crowding. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic and can help alleviate pain and prevent further oral health complications.
Dentures are removable appliances used to replace missing teeth and restore oral function and aesthetics. They are custom-made to fit the patient’s mouth and can be either full dentures or partial dentures. Dentures help improve speech, chewing ability, and smile appearance. They can be made from acrylic, cobalt chrome or flexible plastic depending on the requirements of the patient. Having a clinical denture technician in house means we provide the very best dentures possible.
Our tooth whitening treatment involves having impressions taken at the practice to create custom fit trays. These trays are used to apply prescription only professional strength whitening gel to the teeth at home. This treatment allows for convenient and effective whitening of the teeth.
Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure where a tooth-coloured resin material is applied to the teeth and shaped to improve their appearance. It is used to fix chipped or cracked teeth, close gaps, and modify the shape or colour of the teeth.
Crowns are tooth-shaped caps that cover a damaged tooth, bridges replace missing teeth and are anchored by neighbouring teeth, while veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of teeth to improve appearance. These dental restorations enhance function and aesthetics of the smile.
Invisalign™ is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth. It offers a discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional braces, allowing the gradual movement of teeth into their desired position. Invisalign™ aligners are custom-made and can be easily removed for eating, brushing, and flossing.
Dental implants are the ‘gold standard’ treatment option for replacing missing teeth. Placement involves a titanium post being screwed into the jaw bone providing stable foundation for the implant crown or bridge to be attached. Dental implants restore full dental function, improve aesthetics and are incredibly long lasting if properly maintained.
Facial aesthetics treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections target muscle contractions to reduce wrinkles, dermal fillers add volume to smooth lines and plump areas, and fat-dissolving injections break down fat cells to contour the face and body. These non-invasive procedures enhance appearance, restore youthfulness, and rejuvenate skin texture.
